Iran Sentences American Journalist to 8 Years
    Saturday, April 18, 2009
    By NAZILA FATHI

A revolutionary court has sentenced an Iranian-American journalist, Roxana Saberi, to eight years in prison after convicting her of spying for the United States, her lawyer said Saturday.

The sentence comes after Washington has made overtures to Iran about starting a dialogue over its nuclear program. The State Department said on Thursday that Ms. Saberi’s jailing was not helpful and that Iran would gain good will from the United States if it “responded in a positive way” to the case, AP reported.

Ms. Saberi, 31, was arrested in late January on the much lighter charge of buying alcohol. The foreign ministry said later that she was accused of working as a reporter without press credentials, but the prosecutor’s office said this month that she was put on trial for spying . She is held in the country’s notorious Evin prison in Tehran.

It's not the first time that american citizens are spying in Iran for the US goverment. The difference is this time they ordered her to spend time in jail, before her Iran usually was expulsing them from the country. Here, in US happens the same when the goverment catch anybody spying for a foregein country.
About the relationship inbetwen US and Iran have nothing to do with this case.

Yeh "American Citizen" she was 'spying' yep a jouralist - no doubt she was passing state secrets - got into the government files - acquired nuclear info (all the while working for that secret CIA organization known as PBS) -
      - oh yeah has nothing to do with 'relations' with US (tho if we deal with these bastards even after this we deserve whatever we get

People. Read the story. The real issue is she has dual citizenship. She does not have US citizenship protection when she is in Iran. Too bad for her. Next time, choose a country.

...and President Obama stays silent on another American hostage in Iran. Currently there are four Americans kept hostage in Iranian jails. They are Ms. Roxana Saberi an NPR reporter, Ms. Aasha Momeni University of California researcher, Ms. Sylvia Hartoonian Human Rights advocate, and Mr. Robert Levinson former FBI agent who mysteriously "disappeared" about a year ago on a business trip to Khark Island in Iran. Roxana has been in the news but the other three are forgotten by everybody.

I am not sure, but do you think we should put Obama on trial for treason.
Going to all the Dictators and wanting to be friends with them, even they torture and kill their own people and now are threatening Isreal? Dont believe me? How about Cuba, Venezuela and Iran? These people are torturers and killers and imprison their own people.
Obama tried for treason is not really that far fetched. Free this woman.

There is NO SUCH THING as:

"...She does not have US citizenship protection when she is in Iran..."

If you are in a foreign country you are subject to their laws.

We need to leave Iran. Our soliders should not be risking their lives for a country that hates us. Pull out the troops, and leave Hilary to help them "change" (tm) their country.
